Everybody Wants The Mic
I have a huge problem with the First Lady saying most black kids are lazy : we sit on the couch at home watching TV and playing video games and only want to be a rapper or ball player (entertainer of some sort).
1) there’s no statistics on how many black kids want to entertain and how many just sit on the couch so that statement was unwarranted, unsupported and disrespectful.
Your job in the White House is to lead and set an example, a standard. Yet the same First Lady who said she wants to be Beyonce is appalled that little black kids want to be entertainers 😒
why don’t you ask some of these kids why they don’t want to go into other fields.
In the past, entertainment was what brought races together. It’s hard to teach racism to a little white boy who looks up to Jackie Robinson or the little white girl who dreams of singing like Aretha. Blacks succeed in these areas. To this day, the wealthiest African Americans are entertainers and athletes
What FLOTUS should do is keep addressing the issues that do discourage blacks from entering professional fields : such as unfair pay to women AND blacks. Discuss why ever since affirmative action ended in California, blacks rarely get accepted into those universities. Talk about why even middle class blacks struggle more than their white counterparts to retain healthcare, jobs, insurance, etc.
When those problems are adequately addressed, when your REAL job is completed … maybe we’ll see more black lawyers, investment bankers, architects, etc.
Until then ✋ cut the BS quotes.
There are a lot of black children who want to be professionals. Also, FLOTUS is such a influential person. Stop standing beside Beyonce and JayZ in every picture.
Get some Snapshots with Oprah, Don Peebles, Quitin Primo,etc. Tell them how you looked up to these black self-made ppl … the ones who didnt let race, sex, etc stop them from reaching their goals 👏👏👏
